Quality assurance

Sampling, acceptance, and what happens when a lot fails.

Sampling plan

Sampling is carried out according to EN ISO 18135. A representative composite sample is taken from each lot or production batch, with a maximum lot size of 100 tonnes and a minimum of √n + 1 primary samples, where n is the number of tonnes divided by 100. Samples are sealed, labelled and accompanied by a sample report.

EN ISO 18135

Acceptance criteria

A shipment is accepted only if all parameters comply with the specification. Any parameter exceeding the specified limit results in rejection or requires re-processing and re-testing. Minor deviations may be accepted under written approval and price adjustment. In case of dispute, results from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory mutually agreed by buyer and supplier apply.

Defect classification

  • Critical — reject shipment

    • Moisture > 10 %
    • Ash > 0.7 %
    • Length < 3.15 mm or > 40 mm
    • Foreign material present
  • Major — hold, re-test or price deduction

    • Diameter out of range
    • Durability < 98 %
    • Fines > 1 %
  • Minor — accept with note

    • Slight colour variation
    • Bag weight ± 5 %

Documents supplied with each shipment

  • Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for each shipment
  • ENplus® A1 certificate, where contractually required
  • FSC® / PEFC™ certificate, where applicable

Packaging & logistics

How it ships, and how it must be stored.

Store in a dry, clean, well-ventilated area. Protect from moisture and direct rain. Avoid contact with soil or standing water. Transport in clean, dry vehicles and ensure proper stacking and load securing.

Also from the group

The other kind of stored energy.

LUXORA stores energy as biomass; ESTAVON stores it as electricity in LiFePO₄ cells. Both exist so a building is not left depending on a supply it does not control — one for the heat, one for the power.
